Atheros 5006XS card in A31

I'm thinking about this instead of the Intel 2200BG. Would I still get the 01C9 error? I patched the CMOS for the no-1802 error when I got the 2200BG and it works fine. What about this Atheros card? Its got the AR5414A chipset...supposed to be 6th Gen.

You will likely get the error, with Atheros cards it's always hit and miss when it comes to A3x units.

The only Atheros I didn't have to hack at all was Toshiba-branded...go figure...

Does the Atheros card usually conflict with the little ethernet card located where the mini pci card is located? I noticed there are 2 cards there. One is a modem and the other is the ethernet comtroller. Both are held in place by 2 screws each.

Atheros is the only card being recognized as "network" and therefore clashing with LAN (yes, it's one of these two CDC cards)...all other wireless cards are seen as "network-other", at least to the best of my belief and knowledge.

There are two things to fix for the Atheros cards. First thing is the whitelist 1802 error. Once you past that, you need to change the device type to WLAN from LAN. The no-1802 utility circulating has the function to fix the LAN device type problem also.

I installed the exact same card in my brother's T30. I did the no-1802 fix and desoldered one of the pins from the card, and it works perfectly.
