a22p memory limit, i am stupid!

#1 Post by joey27 » Fri Apr 25, 2008 7:51 am

Hi in my a22p i have to dims of 128mb i thought i`d be smart and buy a 512MB so i`l have more then enough ram for this PIII, this is a crucial low density memory and should be compatible and for long time i did`nt know why it won`t work, now i know the limits.
so i`m stuck with this brand new ram that can`nt be used.

by the way im new here, so Hello all

Can anyone help\advice?

Welcome to the forum!

Your A22p will take two sticks of low-density PC133 or PC100 RAM, maximum 256Mb each. Anything else won't work. These machines are known to be picky and difficult when it comes to RAM-take it from someone who has owned dozens of them.

What's the RAM that you're trying out?

Crucial low density 512MB 133MHz
Does`nt work, im looking for a trade with 2 dims on 256Mb
It`s make me so mad thinking that i won`t be able to have more than 512Mb, i already increased the virtual memory to 2Gb.

As long as you're running W2K, or a "slimmed down" version of XP, you'll be fine, trust me. 512Mb might not be a lot by today's standards, but you can make it work well in your machine with some tweaking of software.

At the performance settings i checked "adjust for best performance", i disabled some unnecessary services, but still opening IE with a few tabs ans opening the outlook is on the border-line for it.
After i broadened the virtual memory to 2Gb its working mush better.
i don`t want to use some special SW in order to be able to use only 256Mb because this is when the laptop would be annoying and not pleasing.
Using my father T20 with 512Mb ram, i know the difference and the A22p should be stronger.
So i think that insisting using 512Mb is a wise thing to do,Leaving the fact that i don`t have anything to do with the new 512Mb Dim that sitting here looking at me which i bought especially for this.

I would try to return the memory from whom you purchased the memory from.
