Atheros 5006XS in A31 not connecting!

#1 Post by ken3983 » Tue Apr 29, 2008 4:23 pm

I installed an Atheros 5006XS internal wifi in place of my Intel 2200BG. I loaded up v5.0x of the Atheros driver/utility package and XP saw the card as a 5006XS. In the same places I have gotten signal off of my 2200BG...I now get nothing! I even tried the Windows Zero Config program to try and get a signal...no dice. I don't get it. I looked under the properties of the card and its "on" by default. Am I doing something wrong? I'll bet you dollars to donuts if I swap back the 2200BG I'll get a signal. I checked the antenna leads and they are good as well. HELP!

Can you turn on the card using the Atheros Client Utility?

Yes... I can turn it on or off. Its on by default in the utility. I got the latest driver as of this posting. Its v7.3 and still no go. I might have to put the Intel back in.

The most compatible driver version is 330156. Find a copy on the web and see if it works.

Once 330156 driver is working, sometimes I have success in updating it to the IBM driver manually.

I'm using a AR5005G, with AirLink101 Super G (108) drivers. Works well. Maybe you could try something similar.

I give up. I tried both the 330156 and the Airlink drivers and still nothing. I re-checked the antenna leads and if it was seated correctly. I get no hardware nor software conflicts at all. I probably just got a bad board. You'd think I'd get a good one with all the ones that are out there.
