R61 - does this have a glossy screen?

#1 Post by jacobsee » Thu May 08, 2008 4:09 pm

I am about to order a Thinkpad R61 7732 with 14.1 WXGA TFT, w/ Camera

One thing I can't figure out--does this come with a glossy screen? I really want to avoid this if possible. I've run across a few comments saying that the R-series has glossy screens but not the T-series. Anyone know for sure?

I also like the idea of the built-in webcam but not sure if this is available in the T-series.

Thanks for the help!
Eric

The R61i has an optional glossy screen. Lenovo calls it VibrantView, but the rest of the screens are matte just like the T series.

Fred, thanks for the quick response. I've confirmed that option for the R61i, so I think I'm ok. Do you happen to know what is the SmartCard option is for the graphics option?

System graphics:
Intel GMA X3100, GM965, 1394, S-Video, PC Card/PCIe
Intel GMA X3100, GM965, 1394, S-Video, PC Card/Smart Card [add $112.50 $18.75]

Dont know about the smartcard option, but do know that the VIBRANTVIEW screens are VERY nice indeed! I got one on the R61i I got for a family friend and the screen is easy to read and very "vibrant" if I must say.

I wouldnt use one over my matte screens, but for home use and someone who works with video/photos this screen rocks.
