thinkpad Z61M built in ethernet card issues

#1 Post by pinktad » Sat May 10, 2008 11:36 am

Hello everyone,

I am just new on this forum and I have the weirdest issue with my thinkpad here. In short I got it in 2007 and it worked like a charm, I would only have to plug the ethernet in and I was on my way, either on the network, or on the internet.

However, the internal clock wasn't running in sync, so I had to send the unit back for repair (systemboard replacement).
When I got it back, my network changed, from using a simple cheap cable router to a more sophisticated yet simple router a zywall 5. And now I can't connect anymore!

Basicly the leds won't light up at the connectors side and also, it will persist that a network cable is unplugged. I solved this issue with a usb network adapter, but now that I am dualbooting OpenSuse, I'd really like to get the out of the box hardware to work for me!

Can anyone help me out on this one?

In response to my network problem, Lenovo sent an on-site repairman, he tested my connection with my old cheap router and it was working. So no hardware was to be replaced.

Thanks!

Can you test this Zywall on another machine?

Yes, I did. Actually there's multiple devices running just fine. A HP proliant terminal server, several older HP desktops and a nashuatec networkprinter.
