Is R61 quiet?

#1 Post by zhixingzhao » Wed May 14, 2008 9:44 pm

Hi, I am about to buy a thinkpad R61. Could anyone tell me if it is a quiet machine? I mean if the fan noise level reasonable? How about the heat?

Should I expect any major difference regarding the noise/heat between the integrated graphics card and nVidia nvs 140m card when performing non-graphics intensive tasks?

Any input is welcome..

I just got an R61i for a family friend and the laptop runs very cool, with limited fan usage. The body of the laptop is so large compared to the T/X series that air flow just glides across the internals with ease - hence not needing fan flow much often.

The one I got had a Pentium Dual Core (not Core 2 Duo) and ran just fine.

I think its a solid laptop and just a budget version of the T series, and larger. For a desktop replacement the laptop is awesome. On par with the old Z series.
