R30 memory question

#1 Post by tf34mech » Fri May 30, 2008 4:26 pm

I recently bought a R30 and it badly needs more memory. I am new to IBM's and laptops in general. Does this require memory specific to IBM and this laptop or can I use any PC133 laptop memory. I went to Kingston and some other company sites and they seem to be a bit high in price. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Sean

It is a R30-2656-22U

Welcome to the forum!

Your machine will be fine with any PC133 memory. You may want to post a WTB ad in the forum's marketplace section and see what comes up...

Thanks for the info. How does it work for the second memory slot. Does both modules have to match?

No, as long as they're both PC133 size and manufacturer are not important.

I have 2 R30's and indeed it does use pc133. But I have a T21 with pc133 cl2 low density that the R30's did not like. I purchased a ram stick of pc133 cl3 from a forum member and ran like a roach with the kitchen lights on!!
