I picked up an A31 (2652-j3u) off of eBay the other day and I was playing with it and was flabbergasted... 98% power left in the battery for....20 minutes? Please oh please tell me this isn't the norm. That this isn't what I am gonna have to deal with. Even my TP600 gets over 1 1/2 hour to 2 hours on a full charge.
I thought I researched everything before deciding on the A31. I have known people in different businesses who use them regularly and love them. If 20-30 minutes is all I am gonna get... guess it will be on eBay again pretty doggone soon.
One of the reasons I went looking for another dependable computer was to get some real speed... and longer battery life.
Yeah... I know... I bought it, it is mine, as well as the oops factor.
But...can someone please tell me if the normal time is LOTS longer, or when I upgrade the RAM (256 now...2 gig soon) that the time will increase exponentially.
I am so disappointed! Please tell me I have nothing to worry about!
Help!!!!
Mike
Ok...just what is the length of time.....

That's just because you have an old battery that no longer holds much charge. Its full capacity is now only a small fraction of the original design capacity. "98%" is with respect to its current full capacity, and it probably corresponds to only ~10% of the design capacity.
If you want to confirm what I said above, download and install the Battery MaxiMiser.
Just replace the battery with a new one, which should last 2 to 3 hours.
