R61i not staying in standby mode

Good morning all.

I'm cross-posting this with the Lenovo forums, although I'll guess that there won't be any responses given the topics and the low number of views:

I set up a R61i for my dad and everything is to my satisfaction except that when the laptop goes into standby, a few seconds later it makes a couple of loud system beeps and comes out of standby, although the monitor will not come back on until I move the mouse. I do not see any error messages displayed.

I have checked the network adapter to make sure the wake on LAN is disabled and it seems like it is.

Any system logs I can check? Any diagnostics I can run?
