#1 Post by furiousmonkey » Sun Jun 08, 2008 9:39 am

Hi, I have an R51 series with a centreno 1.5mhz

I also have a T30 with a 2.4mhz Pentium 4 CPU.

Can I replace the R series cpu with the one from my T30?

Thanks

Nope. The voltages are different, even though the socket is physically the same.

Next question is why. Look up the "mhz myth", that 1.5ghz Pentium M is alot faster than it seems, possibly faster than the 2.4ghz Pentium 4. Add to that the fact the the P4 uses more battery power, so there's no reason to even want to do that to begin with.

Oh well, thats too bad, I dont mind the battery usage on the T30's that I have they are basically portable desktop computers.

My one now has a gig of ram and the other 2 gigs of ram!

I use the Ultrabay battery a long side the standard battery when I am working away from my office, combined they give me about 4 hours of use.

Thanks for the reply
