Bluetooth Madness!

#1 Post by khalilnajjar » Thu Jun 19, 2008 12:05 pm

Hello. I have a ThinkPad R61. It came with windows vista and bluetooth preinstalled. I wiped everything out because I dislike vista. I then proceeded to install Windows XP Professional.

After doing so, as expected, all the drivers and software were removed. I wanted to get my bluetooth running again without having to install all of IBM's software again. I haven't gotten far.

Problem: After installing the Thinkpad driver located here, I noticed that the bluetooth icon shows up in my system tray but when i click on it, it says "Bluetooth Device Not Found".

Please help. I have seen this issue before on other forums but I have not succeeded in solving this issue for myself.

Thank you!

Maybe a silly question, but have you hit the Fn + F5 combination to turn it on?

The Fn +key shortcuts do not work as I do not have the IBM software installed. I'm trying to find a way around that.

Install hotkey drivers and you should be able to turn BT and wlan on via Fn+F5....

When BT isn't powered on, and you try to use it, you get message Bluetooth Device Not Found......

Try to do that and post results....
