problem w/sound cart on Thinkpad r61

Hi. I get my R61 few months ago and it was OK until last week.
But now I have problem with sound.Its start some siren-noise right after I closing notebook.
When its on mute - its silent.
What can I do with that?

it sounds like feedback..
but what would cause this to start after a few months..?
maybe some bit of debris in the mic if it HAS a mic..?

the usual questions arise:
did you add any new apps or hardware..?
did something happen to the thinkpad just before this issue started..?
did you make any changes to the sound applet..? like change some setting..?
does it still happen if the "gain" is set to low or medium..?

I dont see any particular reason to get this problem.
