Oh dear my sweety R52 cannot boot..

There is no IBM splash screen.
Power on LED was on, fan spinning and nothing else (blank screen).. I have opened the thinkpad and reseat everything (RAM, LCD connector, HDD, fan and CPU) but it still remained the same. Now it starts up after i shake the whole thinkpad vigorously. I am just wondering is it time for me to change my BIOS battery or is my system board dying? I have not spilled anything on my system board yet. This thinkpad was 3 years old ONLY!!

Any ideas from thinkpad pros?

I am neither trolling nor making up stories. This is true and i am so upset that i have spent so much time researching for answers before returning to this forum to seek our professionals for help again.
Yeah.. and my LCD has many colorful vertical lines..

Thank you in advance for your suggestion and opinions. I hoped tfflivemb2, James, raymond or maybe ryan (all the thinkpad pros)can popped by here and help me.

Remove all the CRU parts except for one SODIMM. If it boots then add back the parts one by one. If not, remove that SODIMM and try another one.

You might want to try an external monitor in case the display has gone.

I cannot say that I am in any way familiar with with the r52, but saying

makes me wonder.
The sentences used - "colorful vertical lines" and "shaking" makes me straight into thinking GPU problem and new mother board needed.

NS - what do you have to backup your statement

I have used post-it notes and shoved them underneath the heatsink (on top of the GPU), making sure there is pressure on the GPU and reseat the keyboard back.

Now working like a charm.

Sorry, it's loose GPU issue and stupid me goes about looking for other fault on the systemboard instead.

Your sweety has a problem, that is called "flexing" on our german TP-Board. The GPU looses it´s contact to the Mobo.
Pressure helps a bit, but it will, in some days or month, failing!
Backup your data and buy a new one.
Since the 60er models of R and T models, they have a magnesium cage, to prevent distortion and Mobo failure.
