PLS Help - How to uninstall ThinkVantage programs?

#1 Post by rknotes » Sat Jul 05, 2008 10:21 pm

ThinkVantage Rescue & Recovery program crashes when doing a Backup and so I wanted to update to the latest version ..to do that, the current version has to be uninstalled and the ThinkVantage Software Installer that IBM provides is so DUMB that it can't uninstall (how LAME  )!

Anyways, when I goto Windows Control Panel/Add or Remove Programs and try to uninstall ThinkVantage Rescue & Recovery, it FAILS and now I'm lost as to what to do next?

Error: http://img58.imageshack.us/my.php?image ... suekv6.jpg

Any ideas how to uninstall specific ThinkVantage programs without using the Windows Control Panel/Add or Remove Programs?

Much appreciated!

i would try to download offline installation file ( http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... 1511en.exe ) and install it... after that you should be able to uninstall it properly, or it can start working :)

Use "windows installer cleanup" from Microsoft - Reference

if your thinkvantage back-up crashes on you, maybe it's just easier to reformat your whole HD with the recovery cds. Seems like you are doing everything right...
Now: Z61M, C2D, T7200, 160GB HD, 1GB

Past: T42, R52, R51, T20
