Should the R40 Fan be on at all times?

#1 Post by pt1209 » Wed Aug 06, 2008 10:31 am

I had my Thinkpad apart to repair a Standby switch problem (which vanaya helped me greatly) and noticed the fan didn't come on while I had it open and running. Is there certain temp. it needs to hit before the fan comes on or am I looking at a fan replacement? Anyone know of a way to manually turn it on by a setting or software? Thanks all in advance!

Did some research and found TPFanControl, the fan does work and I'm able to see and control how cool I want the cpu.

Thank your lucky stars you have one of the quietest computers ever made.

I just put down my t43 cuz it was hotter than satans oven and the fan never ever ever ever turned off..

I couldn't stand the constant noise..

I love my R40 and will never leave it again.. so peaceful and quite.
