Can i somehow restore type number in BIOS

#1 Post by thomaslp » Thu Aug 07, 2008 1:29 pm

Hi,
I have a R51. I orginally bought it as defect. The type number written underneath the laptop is 1831-cto (Motherboard with ATI chip). The installed motherboard has a Intel GP so I assume that it cant be the 1831 type. Can I somehow find the originally type number and reset it in bios? I have managed to update the embedded controller program and the bios software - but the type number is still not set.

Thomas

Thank you for your reply, but I know how to set the type number. My problem is that I do not have the type number. I need to know if there is a way that I can find this number again somehow?

Oh, sorry  . As far as I know, you would have to search through the trwbook.pdf or R51 Hardware Maintenance Manual files for a system which is configured the same way yours is. If you can't find a suitable match, then maybe you can use "2883-CTO" ??

That's ok :D

Thank you for the reply. I am just trying a few other things. If not I need to start finding it in the manual. I will post the result later.
