Z61t Screen Dead? No Brightness

#1 Post by dB02k1 » Sun Aug 10, 2008 7:50 pm

My z61t is barely showing the screen at all. If I look very very close I can see outlines but there is absolutely no brightness. Any ideas? It does it from boot not just in XP. It did it once today, then i plugged it in and it worked but now does it no matter what. Anyone know of a fix? Familiar with the problem? Is the backlight broken?

welcome to the forum.

your description sounds exactly like the backlight is shot. it's generally accepted as a quite challenging repair. there is a forum member that provides this service. do a search on jamiphar.

Does warranty service typically cover something like this?

Could it be the inverter? I've had some gone bad and it takes five minutes to replace.

^^^
true, but if the op's machine is still under warranty as hinted, the call to ezserv should be the first step.
