Battery woes.. Is the HelpCenter server ever on?

#1 Post by pt1209 » Tue Aug 12, 2008 7:34 am

Seems my battery is acting up, it drains down normally from 100% to 71%, then at 70% it kicks right to 60% then a minute later it drops to 3% then shuts down. I reconditioned it twice now by disabling the power manage settings so it drains down completely then let it recharge for hours. Strange thing is at 0% it keeps running for almost 20 minutes. Battery info states Health is Good(green) and full charge capacity is 43.37 WH(Design Cap. 57.60 WH) cycle count 224. I thought maybe I might need to update the bios or the Power Manage software but haven't been able to access IBM HelpCenter updates through "Access IBM". Constantly get the "The IBM HelpCenter server is temporarily unavailable" message. Any opinions on either the battery problem or accessing the HelpCenter would be appreciated.

you can go here: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... ry=2681CU1

or a different view: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-46024

you can download and install whatever you need without using system update. some of us never use su.

the first link is often updated before the matrix.

Thanks sarbin, according to Thinkpad support's bios detection it says:
"Machine type/model: 2681-CU1
Your BIOS version: 1OET38WW (1.04 )
You have the latest available BIOS installed on the system you are currently using."

So I guess that's not the problem, not to mention after the last round of total discharge/fully recharge the battery only lasted until 90% then kicked down to 4% then off..
Why does the Battery Health info tell me the battery is "Good" if it really isn't?

have you checked the other offerings on the site for your machine?
power management drivers, battery maximise/power manager, embedded controller, etc?
