dropping default gateway

#1 Post by atwood » Fri Aug 22, 2008 11:56 am

I have a thinkpad R61 model 8934-a7u that seems, for some odd reason to keep dropping the default gateway from ip configuration.

I have a d-link 704p router that I use to share internet connectivity with both my desktop and laptop.

I will be working on the laptop viewing a website and then it will report that the page cannot be found. I check ipconfig and it has an ip address and subnet mask but no default gateway. I have tried to repair the connection and /release /renew but it still loses the default gateway from time to time.

This has not been an issue with my desktop.

Has anyone else seen this ? What do you think the problem might be ?

Thanks in advance

Set a fixed IP address instead of DHCP.

Basically, I don't use the same box for wireless access point and DHCP server but that's another story.
