Video Out

I have an A31 and am having a problem with getting my video out to my tv. I hooked up an S video cable and am able to display my computer screen fine as well as any DVDs I play using Media Player 10, Power DVD or GOM player. But when I go to play a video file(avi,flv or divx) the video does not show - the computer screen and playing application still displays but not the video(what I mean to say is that what I see on my computer screen displays on the tv just not the video being played)

I have searched the forums but did not find anything nor can I find a display setting to cause this.
Any help would be apprecieated
