Need some help with upgrading an A21e

First let me mention that I searched the forums for help before I decided to post for some help.

I have an A21e that I am having trouble upgrading to XP. It originally had Win 2000 on it. When I tried to upgrade, the thinkpad would just shut off during the process. I have done dozens of uogrades and clean instals on other desktops and 600 series TPs and never seen this. The Tp would shutdown at the wrong times. I went through this a few times before I decided to fdisk the 10 gig hdd and start from scratch. Well I'm still having the same problem.

I searched around the forums and ended up down loading the latest BIOS update. I transfered the BIOS update to a floppy like the IBM site directs, placed it in the drive, and I get a ntloader missing message. I have the TP booting off the floppy first.
