160G on R52?

#1 Post by muscleflex » Wed Sep 03, 2008 1:33 am

any of you guys running anything other than the standard hard drive on your R52? I want to buy a bigger hard drive but i'm sure i'll get that 2010 HD compatibility error on bootup.
i'm thinking of getting a Seagate 160g from ebuyer

Should be ok. I just installed a 160GB WD in a T43 and the 2010 Error came up during POST. Then boot up without problem. R52s are very similar to T43s.

Best compatibility are 120/160GB Fujitsu. I have a R52 running on a 120GB Fujitsu now.

I recommend upgrading quick as PATA drive support is dwindling.

I have a WD 250Gb HDD in my wife's R52 and it runs with no issues. There's a place in the menu where you can set the POST process to continue after the 2010 Error warning instead of stopping.
