Is my inverter dead? or is my screen dead?

Hello everyone,
My girl friend dropped her A21m without knowing. Without knowing she then went to open up her screen and then noticed the huge crack in the case in the back right corner right where the screen hinges on the base of the unit. The machine still powers up and the screen comes alive but the image is very dark. I broke down the machine, checked all connections and put it back together but the same problem remains. Here is my question:

How can I tell if it is only the inverter that is bad? Is there a way to tell if my inverter is faling or if the screen has sh1t the bed (interal wire problems...)?
