R50 recovery disks will create an HPA partition, like those found on T40/T41's. R52's had next generation recovery partitions like T43's (and T42's). The R52 & T43's with Intel GPU's used the same recovery CD's.

R50 disks will work to lay down XP, but you'll need to download several drivers specific to the R52. T42 or T43 (R52) disks would be better.

That may be true, I do not know enough about how the recovery process works to say whether a HAL is forced or selected during the recovery process. I'll give it a try sometime. I should do it soon, since I have a T43 with Intel video on hand (which is an R52).

(Certainly, swapping disks between T40/T41/T42/R50/R51 and T43/R52's presents HAL issues - that I know first hand.)

Thanks.
Guess I'll just install XP-Pro/SP3, then DotNet 2.0/SP1 and System Update.
Run SU, then take an image for later.
