Question regarding a motherboard problem for a Thinkpad R40

#1 Post by sandman512 » Fri Sep 19, 2008 6:09 pm

Noob here! I have an IBM Thinkpad R40, 2893, with a 1.4 Centrino Processor. It will power off by itself. I figured after doing some research, that the motherboard needs to be replaced. First, does anyone have a good site or idea on where to get one? Second, on ebay I can't find any motherboards that are made for the "2893". It seems that there are some for other R40s. Any and all advice, input and thoughts are appreciated.

Motherboards within R40 range can be replaced with any other R40 planar, you just have to make sure that it comes from the machine with the same LCD size...

Just out of curiosity, what information did you find that prompts the mb replacement?
