PC Card question

#1 Post by djimass » Thu Sep 25, 2008 12:38 am

Hey guys,

I recently acquired an A22e Celeron laptop for really cheap. I bought a Dynex Wifi card and an ebay USB card (my USB port isn't working properly). Now I can't fit both into my PCMCIA slots. They both fit the bottom slot but neither fit the top slot. Am I doing something wrong? What can I do to be able to use both cards at the same time?
Is my laptop compatiblewith the mini-pci wireless cards?

Thanks!

A22e is a single slot machine. Only the bottom slot works.

You mean it's a Type III slot? (Double thickness, but one interface) You really don't see those anymore.

Thanks for the replies. So can I use a wifi mini-pci card on this laptop then? If I can, I'll use that instead and keep my only slot for my usb card.

You should be able to use a WiFi miniPCI card. But there are no antennae in A22e. So you will need to find an antennae solution.

Alternative is to use an USB WiFi device.

Do you have a suggestion for the antennae solution? I'm very new at this.

Thanks!

The A22e LCD cover is a little larger than the T2x covers. May be you can shoe horn a set of T23 antennae into the cover. But you need the miniPCI slot for the ethernet function.

So best is still add a PCMCIA USB2.0 card and then use a USB WiFi dongle.
