RAM question - A22e Celeron
RAM question - A22e Celeron
Good morning all,
I have an A22e Celeron (800 Mhz) laptop I obtained for really cheap about 2 months ago. It came with 128 Mo of RAM and I have upgraded it to 256 Mo. I have read on the IBM/Lenovo website that 256 Mo is the maximum I can have in my machine. I have also read (on thinkwiki to name my source) that the maximum for the A22e is 384 Mo. Is there a way to have more than 256? I know I could go and buy a new laptop but this one works fine; I just want to make it a little faster.
Thanks for your replies.

According to the tawbook (official title: "Personal Systems Reference, IBM ThinkPad Notebooks A, T, X, and G Series, 2000 to 2005 - withdrawn, May 2005 - Version 291) it there says (on page 10 of 83):RealBlackStuff wrote:Type 2655 can take 2x 128MB

... and since some type 2655 A22e's are Celeron and some are Pentium, it seems that it is not the type that defines the maximum amount of RAM, but the CPU. The same information is found in the IBM hardware announcement letter: "New IBM ThinkPad A22e Notebooks - Great Processing Power at an Affordable Price".Memory
Celeron: 64MB standard / 256MB max
Pentium III: 64MB standard / 512MB max
SDRAM / non-parity / 100MHz / PC100 / two 144-pin SO-DIMM sockets/std memory in one socket / 1 socket available
