R61/R61i fix 1802 boot error

#1 Post by demo2008 » Sun Oct 05, 2008 7:22 am

Dear Thinkpad community,

after hours of searching and reading hundreds of threads I am nowhere wiser if there exists a way (patch, upgrade, downgrade etc.) to replace the internal PCI express WLAN card (originally, my R61 came with the Intel 4965 a/g/n) with a more compatible (needed for OSX) Broadcom Gigabyte Air Cruiser Mach 6 card.

Any tips on this are very welcome. As may be known the usual "no-1892" patch does not work on these more recent machines.

Thanks for your suggestions.

The 1802 errors can be overcome with a modified BIOS image.

Zender describes the process in this thread: http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=55837
