r30 wireless minipci in r31

#1 Post by rtangwai » Thu Jan 06, 2005 8:54 pm

Is it possibe to put the wireless minipci card from an R30 into an R31? My R31 (2656-CU5) has the minipci slot, but not the antenna wires nor the white connector wire. I got ahold of a dead R30 (blown motherboard) and was wondering if any had tried this - are the wires just buried in the laptop or will I have to install the auxillary antenna and possibly the LCD (since the primary antenna is inside)? Thanks for any advice on the subject (other than that I'm crazy - I'm fully aware of that already :D ).

i read a few people had done that exact thing on here with those models. search 'r31' on this forum search and you'll see it, that's what i did. i wasn't exactly looking for that though. so i guess you can. i just dont personally know how. i just use a pcmcia wifi card.

I have an A31 so I don't know how much applies to the R models.

I downloaded the service manual for my laptop which had the part numbers in it for the antenna kit. I installed the internal antenna myself and bought a wireless mini-PCI card on Ebay.

There should be a similar option available for the R models I would think.
