ABG card for A31

#1 Post by proaudioguy » Sun Oct 26, 2008 12:08 am

Is there a list of compatible Atheros ABG or BG cards that will work in the A31 without BIOS mods?

I bought a Broadcom card from a forum member that seemed to work but randomly caused the computer not to find a bootable disc drive. Removing the card has eliminated that problem. I have no idea what causes this type of error, but I figured it must be some sort of hardware conflict.

That's a hit and miss...you may want to give Intel 2915 ABG a shot...

In my experience, all cards apart from Broadcom and Intel 2200BG require a hack.

Good luck.

I'll have to look later when I can get to it, but I have an A31 that has an Atheros B/G card in it that worked fine as my wife's previous primary computer. I want to say it was that AR5004, but I'll let you know.

Thanks, I'd appreciate that. I can try the intel 2915 since I have 2 installed in other computers, but I'd of of course prefer an Atheros card.

I'm pretty sure the wifi card in one of my A31 machines is an Atheros AR5005... I'm not positive but I will take a look tonight.

The reason I'm not positive is because I've never had to download a driver for it-- XP Pro picks it up automatically. Its very convenient. :D

Edit: I'm on the A31 now. The card is an AR5005G. Hope that helps.
