problem shutting down R32

Hi,

I have an R32 which does not shut down (after Start-> Turn off computer-> Turn off) without my pressing and holding down the power button. What could cause this problem? This is the case even after a reformatting of the hard-dirive.

I'm not sure if it's related, but I also have an unreadable CD-ROM drive (see my earlier post).

Then try pulling out the CDROM drive and see if that helps. I've had Windows XP hang like that on shutdown only a couple of times. The next time the system was powered off it did not do that so I just attributed it to a program which refused to unload when told.
