I got a new LCD external monitor (Lenovo L220x). This was the first one to ever attach to my laptop. I attached it, turned on and (without installing any monitor or graphic card (GC) drivers) I extended the desktop onto the external monitor. It worked, I set up the native resolution and it worked. Problem was the position - default position is external monitor is located to the right of the laptop, which is not what I need. That's where my troubles started.
I tried to set my external monitor as the primary one - blue screen appears. (link to photo http://is.muni.cz/www/143508/DSCN1464.jpg - its in Czech, but basic info should be understandable. If needed I can translate any part of it) I try to change the position of laptop display and external monitor in "Presentation and display schemes" (Fn + F7): the listbox listing available resolutions for external monitor (even with EM drivers installed) contains less options than in reality the monitor is capable of. The last one is 1600 x YYYY, whereas the native (actually set in windows display dialog) is 1900 x YYYY. I click the "TEST" button - blue screen apears.
My following steps:
- first I had default GC drivers from Intel sigend in 2006. so I downloaded and installed new one, signed 2/15/2008. After installing external monitor (EM) driver and rebooting - problem remained
- I was told to download the most recent GC driver from lenovo support. I found one - yet with the same Driver version no. - 6.14.10.4926. I installed it anyway - the problem remained.
