LCD problems with A20p

#1 Post by valter » Sat Nov 22, 2008 5:04 am

Hi there!

I am trying to repair an A20p and I got a odd problem.

It runs well on external monitor, so the motherboard "should" be fine.

In BIOS there is an option (display) to use LCD / External / Both for the display at boot-time.

When I set this option to LCD OR Both it won't boot anymore..

When pressing the powerbutton the fan starts and runs briefly, then it completely shuts down.. AND won't start again until I remove battery, AC and press the powerbutton. Then it starts again.. And to set get into BIOS again I need to pull the BIOS battery.

So I have never had picture on the LCD.. (Which is the reason that I bought it, a nice 1400x1050 screen.....)

Anyone who have seen this behavior before?

regards, Valter

Update:

After taking more things apart I believe that the LCD cable is the cause of the problem.. So I am now looking for a LCD-cable, either FRU 27L0488 (with ultraport?) or 27L0662.

They charge between 50-90U$ for those, a bit more then I am willing to spend.
Anyone have some ideas where I can get one of those cheaper?

regards, Valter

/V
