Has someone attempted to locate the traces of the physical serial port on the mainborad an solder wires to it? I figured out that Tx und Rx could be attached to the RJ11 jack thats connectedd to the internal modem, this jack is seperately connected to the modem card with a small plug. Ok, it would be fatal if someone who is unaware of this mod plugs it to the telephone line but who is using modem connections today anyway? Instead there would be a convenient connector on the outside of the case. The other possibility would be to guide thin insulated wires to the battery compartment or hide it in the pcmcia slot (i did not use mine for 4 years now) or underneath the keyboard when not used.
So does someone know which traces to solder wires to? Oh and I know that I could simply buy a docking station or port replicator, but that is not convenient when I am at the university or somewhere else on the way.
