Congrats on the machine. I've been very happy with my R60 after two and a half years of service. I think it feels more solid at this point than my T42. The screen's a little dim for my tastes, but my had the IPS so anything else is a downgrade.

Thank you Fred for responding I need to know more about my machine capabilities and possible modification.
my specs are:
Original description: Based on 9457-72U: T2300E(1.66GHz), 1GB RAM, 60GB 5400rpm HD, 14.1in 1024x768 LCD, Intel 950, CDRW/DVD, Intel 802.11abg wireless, Modem, 1Gb Ethernet, UltraNav, Secure chip, IEEE 1394, 9c Li-Ion batt, WinXP Home
Am glad you told me about the T42.
Question:
1) does memory works on pair? do to my video card I may have to upgrade? is your hard drive sata?

thank you

Your RAM will work with a single module or with 2 modules.
AFAIK there is no "dual channel" foreseen on your machine.
You can NOT upgrade the (Intel) graphics.
Your hard disk is PATA/IDE/ATA, and not SATA.

According to the Tabook your machine should have:

T2300
512MB
SXGA+
60GB
Combo Drive
XP Pro

Looks like either the machine type is wrong or additions/subtractions were made. The hard drive is SATA and the memory is dual channel, which is not a big deal.

Sorry guys my fault:
My model is:
9457-A49
Wich is: at the lenovo site
"Original description: Based on 9457-72U: T2300E(1.66GHz), 1GB RAM, 60GB 5400rpm HD, 14.1in 1024x768 LCD, Intel 950, CDRW/DVD, Intel 802.11abg wireless, Modem, 1Gb Ethernet, UltraNav, Secure chip, IEEE 1394, 9c Li-Ion batt, WinXP Home"

According to the ltwbook:
9457-72U, Core Duo T2300E 1.66, 512MB, 14.1" SXGA+, GMA, 60GB 5400, Combo, Intel 11a/b/g, 1394, XP Pro, May 06

And the HD is indeed SATA

RAM and HD sizes are variables, easily changed by anyone.
Originally SXGA+, could have been downgraded to/replaced by XGA.

The graphics card (integrated Intel) can not be changed, but the LCD can be (re-)upgraded to SXGA+.

Thanks a lot for you interest as user of R60 you making me feel very secure about my purchase and I thank you.
Hard drive 60G may not be that bad unless I am able to use the laptop as a PVR and record some movies from satellite can that be possible have any of you do that?. My other question is the video card been a 950 if I not wrong it takes video memory from Ram memory meaning that I may have to fill the memory and that is not that bad also I believe that will take another 2G? Any suggestion about the brand and the pins (200)? Price look like about $20. Is 160g max on a hard drive?
If you have chance to answer me I will appreciate.

Current SATA max is 500GB. But it will most likely increase in the near future.

RAM brand doesn't matter that much. Just make sure you get DDR2-667 SO-DIMM. SO-DIMM is laptop, DIMM is desktop. 200-Pin is correct.
