lcd from R50e to R60e possible???

#1 Post by frunze » Sat Dec 20, 2008 2:58 pm

Is it possible to put 15'' xga lcd from R50e (or R52) to 15'' xga R60e (Intel GMA 950; number on lcd panel is LP150X08 (TL) (A"8")?
I'm looking into Hardware Maintenance Manual and there are different part numbers for that two lcd's.... but... some local service man claims that it's possible!?

I've tried to put inside 15'' sxga+ lcd from some wild laptop (number on panel is tm150sp-02l02). Connectors are the same, but there's no picture on it, only backlight works.

Sorry about broken english...

Welcome to the forum!

LCDs between R5x and R6x machines are not interchangeable due to differences in cables and BIOS.

Hope this helps and good luck.

So, the only possibility is to put panel from R6X model?
Will SXGA+ (from R6X) work on XGA?

Hi All and Season's Greetings,

I have an 15.4" R60 and fitted it with the screen from a horrible Medion MD7276 - just imagine the delight when the IBM logo booted on the R60 and all has been well with it since, it's nice and bright too.

I think that a screen from a 15.4" T2x will work with a 15.4" R60 and R60e but I'm pretty sure that the T30 and T40 screens are incompatible due to the size and position of the 20/30 pin connectors. A T4x screen is said to work with the R5x series though I haven't tried that yet.

Sorry I think I meant the A20p though I haven't tried it, the connectors seem to be in the same place. It would be nice to have that high resolution on the R60, if it would work ?

Well my R60e has been upgraded from xga to sxga+ (15''). The donor was some Dell machine.
MERRY CHRISTMAS and a Happy New Year.
