Easy way to restore original MBR?

#1 Post by grue » Thu Jan 20, 2005 6:36 pm

My rescue and recovery partition is currently visible as a FAT32 partition under fdisk and Windows. I would like to restore it back to a hidden partition (non-dos under fdisk) by restoring the original MBR back (the MBR has been modified).

Is there a simple utility to do this? Or is recovering the entire system the only way?

Are the original MBRs available anywhere? I have an r50e and r51.

Thanks for any tips!

What operating system are you running, and how was the hidden partition made visible? What do you mean by modified?

Surely hiding this partition is done in the BIOS? Check out the Security settings part. I have done this to view and then re-hide (?) this partition.
