wirelessadapter driver problem

#1 Post by prcarlito » Fri Feb 06, 2009 5:24 am

Hi, I have a R51 type 1831 - HG5 from 2004
I have recently did a format and reinstalled windows xp home edition.
I installed aal my drivers with the setup files that were on my harddrive.
All worked well, accept my wireless ethernet adapter was not vissible.
I tried installing the driver again, which didn't work. (still new device found message/ or"a problem has occured during the instalation of the new hardware and it might not work properly")

I have tried downloading new drivers for my wireless adapter from lenovo, but nothing seems to work. :( I am getting a bit depret

Do some of you know what I am doing wrong?
Am i using a faulty driver?
which driver should I use?

Hope to hear from you soon

What is the wireless adapter FRU? If it is a 3rd party, what is the general type, e.g. Atheros, intel etc?

Correct wireless driver:

http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-52527

After downloading it, you must go into C/Drivers/Win/Wlanath and run the setup file from there.

Hope this helps.

I am afraid I already tried installing that driver and it does not work.
When i install the original driver that came with my laptop and wich one was prosumably used to install the driver, i get this error message:

Intel(R) PRONotify Manager for Wireless: PRONoMgr.exe - entrypoint not found
"can't find entrypoint of procedure ?save@CProfileMgr@@QAEKAAVCString@@AAVCProfile@@H@Z in DLL-file PfMgrApi.dll."

That's NOT a driver for an Intel card, since you don't have an Intel one, but an atheros (IBM).

The alternate drive would be this one, also for an atheros card:

http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-67214

The location of the driver would be the same: C>Drivers>Win>Wlanath
