I am having a huge problem with this Z61m. It all started when my computer shut off randomly when I was in the middle of doing stuff. I narrowed it down to overheating.
I got the Thinkpad Fan Control program to somewhat control my fan and keep the computer at a mean 70 degrees. But for some reason the fan CAN'T keep up with the heating. The computer still crashes when I'm doing a lot due to overheating. It gets to 80 and above with hardly any work and the fan speed is over 3000RPM all the time.
I am wondering if there are others who have had this problem and what they did. Is it my fan or thermistors.
Also, my BIOS no longer controls my fan. I don't know why. I just updated it not too long ago. It will keep the fan at around 2500 RPM but that is it. No higher or lower.
