Trying to Clone R60 HD

#1 Post by elcrawl » Tue Mar 31, 2009 6:11 pm

I just bought a Western Digital 320gb hdd with which I planned to upgrade my R60. I have XP and don't want to upgrade to Vista, so I've tried cloning my disk using a USB external enclosure but with no luck. I've used Acronis TrueImage Home 2009 as well as Rescue/Recovery. Rescue Recovery shuts down and says there's been an error when I attempt to back up to a bootable external and Acronis says "error: partition has changed" when I attempt to clone using the automatic setting. I've read elsewhere that IBM has a hidden rescue partition and that it may be necessary to modify the registry to hide the external drive. Does anybody have any successful cloning experiences for the R60 that they would be willing to share? Thanks.

Can you create a set of recovery discs in XP? You can use them to install XP on the new drive.
