R60 IPS Upgrade Help

#1 Post by ZaZ » Thu Apr 09, 2009 8:30 pm

I finally got my IPS screen from jamiphar via my neighbor, darn UPS. I made the swap. It didn't really give me any trouble, except it's not working, if you call that trouble. The only problem I had with the swap is the cable from the new LCD is a bit longer than old one. I had to stuff it under the inverter a bit to make it fit, but other than that, it was a straight swap. I can see the image, but it's very dark. Almost like like it has a dead backlight, which I wouldn't think would be the case with a new screen. Anyone have any ideas about what I did wrong or other possible trouble spots? About the only thing I could think of would be if I plugged the cable in backwards. I guess I didn't pay as much attention as I should have. Other than that, it seemed pretty idiot proof. The machine works fine otherwise. I'm typing from it right now, via the dock. Any help mucho appreciated. I'll recheck the connections in the meantime. Thanks.

What happens if you plug the new screen in with the old cable?

Thanks for the reply. This thread can be closed as I done figured it. I correctly deduced that I had plugged the cable from the LCD in backwards. So thankfully, I didn't have to rip the thing apart again. One I flipped it and turned it on, it worked like a charm.
