screen light

#1 Post by ekdya » Sat Apr 11, 2009 6:45 am

Hi
I bought this R52 from ebay and all is fine but I noticed that when the screen turns off, it is not as dark as the other thinkpads I have in the same room (at night). it has a bit of light coming from it.

how can I fix this so that it does not emit any light when it goes to sleep.

thx

It sounds to me like the TP is not going to sleep. Does the crescent moon indicator light?

yes it does.
in regards to the crescent moon indicator in my other thinkpad A31, it also does not come on although its screen darkens all the way.

The crescent moon indicator is for standby or sleep mode. You can do a Fn-F4 or set the Power Manager to enter this mode. Usually default setting has it closing the lid will enter standby mode.

is there a movie to show how to use the Power Manager? I have been very confused as to how to set it up and what selection mean and take?
i.e
do I need to be an Admin?
is it the one which is accessible from Display properties > Screen saver > Power, or
the Power Manger of the ThinkVantage?
what to set up in either?
...
thx

It is the ThinkVantage Power Manager. You can log on normally and I would add a new profile named Home. Beside setting up the Power Scheme tab, check the Global Power Scheme too. I like to use Adaptive instead of Performance to keep the CPU nice and cool.
