Docking station for my A22m

#1 Post by GLE3 » Mon Apr 13, 2009 11:09 am

I'm pretty sure they make docking stations for my Thinkpad that you can fit half size video cards into for connection with an external monitor. Could someone tell me the model number that fits my machine. I'm a bit of a newb at this would like to get the best one available for my laptop. Would both of these models work?

You need a ThinkPad A T X Docking Station with tray e.g. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0383968716 in order to accommodate the the half-size PCI card. The link is just one listing. Check around eBay and via Google. I bought one last year for about $5 + $5 shipping.

If you want to future proof yourself a little bit, you might want to consider the Type 2877 Dock II. It basically does everything the 2631 Dock does but also support the newer T Series through the T43 and the R Series through the R52. It has a PCI half-slot as well as the UltraBay 2000 allowing you to use the older drives and accessory adapters from the UB2K generation. Here's a link to the ThinkWiki page for it that's quite informative:

They can be had in expensively on eBay as well.
Family Daily Drivers- T430s, T530, X220
Work- Sadly, the ThinkPads have gone away...... and replaced by HP ProDesk SFF drone machines :(
Other Projects- Edge 15, Z61m (Titanium)
Historic Retired ThinkPads- T42p, X20, A31p, 701c, 760XD, WorkPad C505

Thanks a lot for the replies! About that half-size PCI, do you guys know if I can fit any ATI or Nvidia PCI card in there that supports DXVA? Purevideo or AVIVO I think they are called. I have a lowly PIII 1 GHz that I'm wondering if I can get to playback H.264/ACV.
