Blank display but LCD detected on R60.

#1 Post by tkawa6 » Thu Apr 23, 2009 9:51 pm

Hi,
I've been working on a pieced together R60 project for the last two months. I have everything working except for the LCD display. It works fine with an external monitor, but I cannot get the LCD to show anything in either ubuntu or windows 7. The until is a 15 sxga connnected to an ATI X1400.

I believe the R60 is seeing the LCD screen, because when have it plugged it shows up in my display manager in kunubtu. Here 's a screen shot.

If I disconnect the screen from the cable and inverter, I get the following.

I installed the Thinkpad R60 monitor drivers and the monitor displays correctly in the device manager. But still a blank screen.

Any advice to what I'm doing wrong? The Bios is set for internal display and Thinkpad monitor. I'm sure it's something dumb I'm doing.

Thanks.

My first question to you would be, where did you get the LCD parts and do they match? What are the FRU#'s? You need an inverter and cable specifically for the 15" SXGA+ LCD, see link below. My second question would be is the LCD you got an IBM FRU, and what is that FRU#?. Finially, was the LCD ever seen to be working or has it been tested?

Bingo. It was the inverter. I had a 41W1124 installed. My friend who has a 15in R61 let my try his inverter (41W1467) and works.

Thanks for the help.
