Battery light is flashing yellow
Battery light is flashing yellow
I'm having a problem with a replacement battery in my A31p. The charging light is solid green and charges fine when I first put the battery in.
After a few hours the light blinks yellow and doesn't charge. If I remove the battery for a few seconds when it's plugged into the wall the yellow light goes out. When I plug in the batter it goes green and starts charging again.
Do I need to do some kind of reset so it recognizes this battery correctly?
Thank you,
Docfxit

There's no reset involved. You either have a bad battery, or a problem within the charging circuit on the motherboard.
Try monitoring the battery and charging for a bit via Power Manager...see whether it accepts charge at all, and also note the battery's capacity, condition, cycle count...
Good luck and keep us posted.

How can I get to Power Manager. It's been a long time since I've seen it.ajkula66 wrote: Try monitoring the battery and charging for a bit via Power Manager...see whether it accepts charge at all, and also note the battery's capacity, condition, cycle count...

If you're running IBM's OEM version of W2K/XP, double-click on the green battery icon in the tray.
If not, you can download it from here:

Even though I was running IBM's OEM version I re-installed the software you suggested. It gave me the Battery Maximizer Wizard.
I don't see the Power Manager or a way to see the battery capacity, condition and cycle count.

Battery Maximizer is what Power Manager used to be called. There should be a battery tab in the software, which will show the cycle count and its condition - Good, Fair or Poor are the possibilities.docfxit wrote:I don't see the Power Manager or a way to see the battery capacity, condition and cycle count.
