z61t compared to t61?

#1 Post by ron781 » Mon Jun 01, 2009 3:47 pm

am planning to get a z61t on ebay...saw a good offer for a t61 too..almost same price range..actually am more inclined towards the z61t..haven't seen them both in the flesh, so to speak..wondering which one is more portable and if the z61t would be the better choice..is the z61t much thicker than the t61?? :?: ..any pointers on the pros and cons between the two??

My pictures and some thoughts on the matter, also opinions by others:

What particular offers are you considering? Choosing between two specific units is often easier than between model lines as a whole.

thanks..great pics..better still for reference between the two, as for the two units, they're almost the same except for the processor, the z61t being a dual core 1.8 ghz and the t61 a core2duo 1.8..they both suffice more than enough for my needs..its more of a design factor for me between the two..thanks once again.

One thing, which may not have been mentioned in that thread, and may be of importance to you:

Most Z61t units cannot output DVI through the docking station. Only those released in October 2006 and later, and were originally equipped with a Core 2 Duo CPU can.

Z61t's do not sell all that often, but I'd say, depending on features (camera?), about $400 is right. That is in the U.S.

Regarding Z61t's vs. T61's, IMHO, the Z61t's are a much nicer, sleeker design. They are also about 1/3 pound lighter. They are modern with the new 20V ac adapter and SATA drives (and, of course, Core Duo or Core 2 Duo).

The T61's are faster even with the same speed CPU due to the newer platform. Not all that much faster, but faster indeed. However, the cases seem oversized for the LCD and keyboard and a little thick. I'd say the benefit would be that they are very durable.

I've had more than one of both, but I prefer the Z61t's design. I still have one.

Finally agreed on about $620,that is INR 30500, including shipping (domestic)...should reach in around 2 weeks...[censored]!! thats a pretty long time  wish a new thinkpad T model comes along soon, don't really like the present T400/T500..T60's were the last great thinkpads. can't wait for my z61t..might post some pics when i get it...lemme see..thanks all for the help in decision.

EDIT: U really think thats an Expletive??.. c'mon man, my apologies but..
