Question about a R61 keyboard

#1 Post by dorronto » Wed Jun 03, 2009 6:53 am

I have an excellent R61 laptop. The extreme right side of the keyboard seems a little loose. Maybe a little higher than the rest. Totally useable but I was wondering if this is common on these series laptops. Keyboard seems "screwed" in. Only one screw on these models.

Any possible suggestions.............

Thanks,
Ron

How tight the keyboard sits depends also on the bezel and palmrest. Lots of screws and lots of degrees of freedom here, and a potential for leaving something loose/flexing. Happened to me a couple of times. You can try to remove the keyboard and palmrest and reseat things. Sometimes it works, but you can easily make matters worse. Then again, you can always try again and again until it is close enough to perfect (unless you aren't careful and break something).

True......There's only one screw holding the keyboard in. It's seated under the front lip of the bezel so it's tight up front.

My guess is that the palmrest isn't on right. There are tabs on the front thast must catch on slots in the lower case. If the thing isn't back al the way, the keyboard isn't held down.
