Blue screen when system boots with LAN cable attached
I get a blue screen showing some kind of error when my R51 (2887BH8) boots up with the LAN cable inserted. The system then restarts and offers me options whether to boot normally or consider other boot configurations. Is there a fix for this and is it harmfull if I just ignore it?
Perhaps you have some "boot from network" options activated in the BIOS, maybe they're generating some errors.
Try moving them lower in the boot-priority list or disabling them in total.

It would be very helpful if you could post the exact STOP: error and the parameters in () after it.
If the computer reboots before you can see the error:
Open System in Control Panel.
On the Advanced tab, under Startup and Recovery, click Settings.
Under System Failure, de-select the check box for "Automatically reboot."

Here it goes again!
The stop error disappeared for a while but I got another one. The technical info is:
*** STOP: 0x000000c5 (0xE15c4000, 0x00000002, 0x000000001, 0x80535A59)
I don't know if this is related to the LAN cable which startup function I already disabled.

The error message says that a driver has been corrupted. It would appear to be the NIC driver in your case. Try uninstalling your NIC and reinstalling a newer driver if one is available, otherwise try the same driver. Also check if other software is adjusting network properties (like VPN software) and uninstall that temporarily to see if you get relief.

What is NIC?
What is NIC?
I will be formatting my system soon due to a malware I can't remove (coolwebsearch).
I'll see if the stop error will appear again.
Thanks.

Re: What is NIC?
Um... It might have been helpful if you mentioned at the start that the machine had CWS on it. 99.999999% that is your problem.tbu3 wrote:What is NIC?
