Fresh OS installation on r50e thinkpad

#1 Post by rachitdhasmana » Sat Jun 27, 2009 4:02 am

Hi

I am using r50e think pad. i was been provided with 40 gb hardisk which actually provides storage of 37gb.

ou of this 4.5 gb is been reserved as recovery partition and only 32 gb has been spared for my use.

i wanted to merge these partitions and upload a fresh OS installation.
I have a genuine xp setup with me.

How can i format and merge the recovery partition with other partition, since through manage storage option of xp i am not able format that partition

Secondly does that have any ill effect on lapops performance if i put new fresh instalation.

thirdly i suppose all the required drivers are already present on c drive can i use them after fresh instalation, or i need to download it from some where

please provide your response asap

thanks
Rachit

This article explains it nicely: http://www.mydigitallife.info/2006/03/1 ... partition/

A fresh install is always good and will perform better than an 'old' one.
However, by doing that, you wipe the previous installation with all its drivers, so you will have to download all the drivers again from IBM/Lenovo.
Lovely day for a Guinness! (The Real Black Stuff)
