Yes, look up the model in the ltwbook and look under top cover color.

Edit: For CTO's, that is a challenge because I see that 9443's had both black and silver covers. Have you tried to look on the warranty parts list?

Thanks a lot for the links Harryc...helped in many other areas except that, am still unsure of my main quest..the ltwbook wasn't listing any CTO's for the z61t 9443.
The warranty parts list returned the following...

Well, the answer is that you can't tell from Lenovo documentation whether or not the lid was originally titanium on a CTO model. My question to you is why does it matter?

well..matters cos' got a z61t from ebay...the buyer listed it as 9443-CTO with titanium lid & webcam..but got a non-titanium lid one without a webcam..No great shakes tho' as they're not that important to me, the lid & cam,i.e., and the laptop is in a pristine condition without any scratches..almost too good to be true that wondered if its refurbs'd..or physically modded..AND its important to me that a seller lists the items as it is, not mislead with the details & pics..overall, am happy with the z61t but disappointed with the seller.

If it was me, and I thought the seller had misrepresented the item I would file NAD claim and return the item for a refund.

On the other hand, if the item was acceptable to me, I would let it go.

Exactly. It's not a matter of whether it was modded or not, but simply a matter of misrepresentation. Not very rare on eBay, unfortunately.

There is no way the seller could not see that the lid was not titanium, and that it has no camera, unless he is really clueless about what he's selling.

Of course, if you really don't care about these features (personally I dislike the looks of the titanium lid and prefer black), and you think that the price you paid was fair for what you got, and you want to keep the laptop, you can let it go. Or you can try to get a partial refund from the seller, which IMO is a fair "punishment" for misrepresentation.

You're both right, the laptop is in excellent condition & I like the black lid better too, just bugged about the misrepresentation I guess..so am not making much of an issue of it & busying myself, upgrading ram,HDD & reinstalling windows, updating.etc :D
THANKS all for the help!!!
